JWT Canada notches it up for United Way Toronto

Marketing solutions company JWT Canada’s fundraising campaign for United Way Toronto is anything but orthodox. Led by an employee campaign committee made up of young, energetic and adventurous creative young adults, JWT held a wide variety of campaign events this year that put the word ‘fun’ in fundraising.
“We like to hold a range of events that provide our employees a variety of ways of supporting United Way. From a bake sale, to a 50/50 raffle, games, yoga and nutritional sessions, a management-served breakfast, pumpkin carving contests, and auctions, we provide unique opportunities to bring our employees together, while having fun for a good cause,” explains Rachel Vares, Account Supervisor at JWT Canada.
Supporting United Way Toronto for approximately 25 years, JWT Canada is hoping to exceed last year’s total and raise upwards of $20,000 for the cause.
“Our whole agency gets involved during United Way fundraising; everyone gets really excited this time of year. Through the variety of events that take place, there is a way for everyone to participate, depending on how much they want to get involved or amount they want to donate,” adds Rachel.
JWT Canada goes the extra mile by opening up some of their events to the public. For their bake sale, for example, they invited other organizations in their building to come out enjoy a treat, with proceeds going to United Way Toronto. And, this year, they are having a grand-finale event to wrap up their fundraising campaign, which is called ‘Good Times for Better Days.’ Being held at Toronto’s Revival Nightclub in November, it’s an evening of entertainment, dancing, music, and a silent auction. Proceeds from ticket sales and the auction will also go to the cause.
Thank you for your support JWT Canada and good luck with your campaign!
Why JWT Canada employees support United Way Toronto
JWT employees believe in creating opportunities for a better life for our community. Here’s what some of them have to say about why they’re fundraising for United Way Toronto:
“I feel fortunate to be able to have so many of the things that we take for granted every day. A nutritious meal, a hot shower, a friend or family member to lean on—these are all things that not everyone can count on. The agencies United Way supports provide not only the basic comforts, but dignity and hope to people in the community who would otherwise not have any of these things. So I fundraise to support the remarkable agencies that bring hope, dignity and are a safe haven for those in our community who need it the most.” —Megan Kane, Account Executive
“The United Way campaign has already been a great opportunity for me to work alongside individuals who I don’t have the chance to work with on a day-to-day basis. I’m so happy to be part of such a great initiative and to share this experience with my coworkers.” — —Marie Chevrier, Account Executive
“Fundraising is about giving back, paying things forward. Too often we find ourselves consumed in our daily grind, complaining about things that in a bigger picture don’t really make that much of a difference. It’s about perspective—getting back to what’s real and forcing ourselves to look at life with a holistic perspective. This puts into stark contrast just how lucky we really are. What if, even just for a short period of time, we put our best foot forward for those that are less fortunate?” —Michael Orpen, Account Director
