Manulife Financial employees show their deep-rooted support of United Way Toronto with an outstanding fundraising campaign

With a proud history spanning over 50 years of helping United Way Toronto serve our community, Manulife Financial employees continued their unwavering support this year with the aim of raising $1.4-million for United Way Toronto—an amount they surpassed by reaching the outstanding total of $1,581,016 for the cause.
Run entirely by employee volunteers, Manulife Financial’s fundraising campaign for United Way Toronto has seen a variety of exciting and creative events. This year’s campaign theme was ‘destinations,’ which included fun city-based activities such as a London, England pancake breakfast, a Las Vegas casino event, and a Hong Kong wrap-up ceremony that included the cheque presentation and speeches by Warren Thompson, SEVP and Chief Investment Officer of Manulife Financial and Janet Holder, United Way Toronto Campaign Chair.
Over 300 Manulife Financial employee volunteers come together to organize events, collect donations and motivate their coworkers to get involved. Manulife Financial consistently sees a participation rate that is over 75 per cent of the organization’s employees. Connecting with colleagues from different parts of the company to make events happen, employees are inspired to come together to make a lasting difference in our community.
“I have been so impressed with the generosity of our colleagues at Manulife. Countless hours have been spent volunteering planning and preparing for these events and they are really quite amazing,” noted Steve McCormick, 2011 Employee Campaign Chair.
