What is a GenNext® Leader?
Are you in your 20s or 30s? Are you dedicated to supporting the community and helping us make our city a better place for all? If so, we invite you to become a GenNext Leader. GenNext Leaders are young philanthropists who support United Way Toronto with an annual contribution of $1,000 or more.
GenNext Leaders is also a program that invites you to take part in supporting United Way Toronto’s work in the community by engaging with our member agencies and community partners. We provide engagement opportunities through our “My Three C’s” program, which gives you a chance to mix and match those activities and events that appeal to you:

Become a GenNext Leader
If you’re like many people in Toronto, you’re concerned about how the challenging economic environment is impacting the most vulnerable members of our city, and you want to do something to help.
By becoming a GenNext Leader, you’ll join a network of over 1,900 of Toronto’s young professionals who are not only passionate about philanthropy but also understand how their annual investment of $1,000 or more to United Way Toronto makes a direct impact on improving the lives of many.
As United Way Toronto President and CEO Susan McIsaac says, “By becoming a GenNext Leader you’re making a statement: ‘I want a bright future for our city and I’m ready to do what it takes to make it happen.’ As the name implies, it means you are part of the next generation of community leaders in our city — committed, caring and seeking to do your part to address the root causes of social issues. By becoming a GenNext Leader, you’re investing in the future of our city and working to makes sure everyone has a chance at building a better life.”
As a GenNext Leader, you’ll receive the following benefits:
- Recognition as a Leader in United Way Toronto’s Honour Roll
- Invitations to attend special events and to network with other GenNext Leaders
- Access to high-level volunteer opportunities
- Ability to deduct your investment for tax purposes
